In the shadow of the Cenotaph

    Newer Older

The policeman asks if the photographer would take his picture

    The photographer says no problem

In front of the Cenotaph, says the policeman

'I'm Steve', says the photographer. 'My name is Will', replies the policeman

The photographer thinks the policeman wants his 'I was here' shot. Maybe for his mum, his girlfriend or for his partner or pals

    It is Tuesday

The policeman is helping to 'open' Parliament. The photographer has been here, close to this spot, on Sunday. Remembrance Sunday. So the photographer puts the policeman with the Cenotaph in the 'past'

The photographer thinks the policeman wants to be a tourist

    Maybe

    Perhaps

The photographer wants to be a poet

So the photographer places 'the other people' who couldn't be here, faded in the background

    The policeman gets his photo

    He may approve

The photographer thinks policemen can be poets too
