A Bridge To Nowhere

A Bridge To Nowhere by spotmaticfanatic.
Camera: Pentax Spotmatic. Prince of Wales Bridge, Ottawa.

The Prince of Wales Bridge crosses from Ottawa to Gatineau, and was active as a rail link until sometime in the 80s. The City of Ottawa owns the bridge and rail line now, and local activists have been pushing to use it for light rail across the river. In the interim, it has become a haven for all sorts of interesting graffiti and artwork.

Now this is my idea of what a bridge photo should look like... Nicely taken..I love the angle you shot it from.

Great shot !! I used to walk under this bridge many times on noon hours when I worked for E. B. Edddy Forest Products on Booth Street between 1971 and 1990.

Cool picture. Do you know witch railroad owned it before it was abandoned?

It was owned by CP until a few years ago, when the City of Ottawa bought it, along with the CP Ellwood sub. Apparently they bought the bridge for the price of scrap.

It reminds me very much of the opening scenes of Twin peaks, with whichever girl is was stumbling back across it-great shot

Righ now they've added 'no trespassing' signs to it, which is quite annoying if you want to take a picture. What's the danger, you'll get run over by a train?

And it's not completely abandoned: Vidéotron's fiber optic trunk to downtown ottawa runs on its east side.
