Power Inn light rail station art
From the pamphlet “Art On Track -- Station Art Along Light Rail”
“Artist: James Kouretas
Due to its proximity to the towering pylons at Folsom and Power Inn, Elektron represents a natural extension of the surrounding forces at work. The high-tension electrical wires above are transformed into their counterparts on the pavement platform. Each lightning bolt consists of broken mosaic tile, giving visual form to the charged particles of both the adjacent substation and the light rail itself.”
What you’ll see:
Scattered all over the platform ground are yellow tile lighting bolt mosaics. They’ve held up well to foot traffic. The columns on the shelters have colorful patterns that don’t seem to fit the theme.
