HTML5 vs Newton: The Pitch

HTML5 vs Newton: The Pitch

After seeing my previous HTML5 vs Newton screenshots, Faruk Ateş asked if I’d run his The Pitch site through Eckhart Köppen’s Courier browser on my 13 year old Newton MessagePad 2100. As with other sites rendered on the Newton, images are not displayed and character encoding issues are evident. However, this is another example of a modern site that can be viewed and navigated on an extant browsing platform.

I’ve also prepared a screenshot showing the site in Steve Weyer’s Newt’s Cape browser.

Please see the full HTML5 vs Newton set for more information and examples.

HTML5 vs Newton: Happy Cog

HTML5 vs Newton: Happy Cog

The Happy Cog crew completely redesigned, rebranded, and relaunched their site in a single week. To celebrate this accomplishment, I thought I’d run it through Eckhart Köppen’s Courier browser on my 13 year old Newton MessagePad 2100. As with other sites rendered on the Newton, images are missing and there are a few character encoding issues. However, this is great example of a modern site that can be viewed and navigated on an extant browsing platform.

TGIMBOEJ: Added

TGIMBOEJ: Added

In honour of Gray-E’s second visit to western Canada, I added just a handful of fresh items to the already overstuffed box. Specifically, an original Atari 2600 joystick that’s seen better days, a Northern Telecom Meridian M2008 PBX telephone, the motherboard from a 12” Titanium PowerBook G4, and a mini headphone plug with inline volume control.
