Before and during the bushfire

Two photos taken from exactly the same spot of Smith Hill in the Upper Yarra Valley in Victoria Australia about 100km north east of Melbourne.

The bottom photo was taken on November 26 2006 in the late afternoon around 4pm and the top photo was taken on December 9 2006 around 11am.

The bush fires are probably about 40-50 km away and the amount of smoke coming in is frightening.

We've even been copping some of the smoke up here in Canberra! Not quite this bad but since the fires started we haven't had a totally clear day.

The likely hood of it getting worse as the 12 fires possibly join up into 2 or 3 super fires is pretty high as well :(

Its about the closest i will get to the fires without getting a CFA media pass...which is highly unlikely as i don't think they let "non-accredited-media" photographers do the training day. Maybe i just need to get a big tele-photo lens ;)
