"Festival" as per wikipedia.com means " an event, usually staged by a local community, which centers on some unique aspect of that community." and I thought "flickr" is festive everyday :) we celebrate life through snapshots shared from all around this wonderful planet... glad to be part of it :)
This is a snap shot from my trip to Kerala.. Any festival in Kerala
means caparisoned elephants.. Lots of music (percussion and wind
instruments).. huge crowds and ofcourse the green backgorund :))

Location-Kolazhi, Thrissur, Kerala. These elephants are waiting for the main elephant which gets to carry the "thidambu"- representing the presiding deity of that temple. (See the last pic in comments.
I have umpteen shots and was at a loss as to what to post so as to put forth a snap shot of what I saw and chose these..

Nice series! Elephants are amazing animals. Here they look beautiful.
Some years ago my brother lived in Thailand. When he went to a market an elephant seemed to like him and went with my brother back to his house. The elephant stayed in the garden till the owner claimed him back later in the afternoon.
