"If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? "
Took a break to the Pennsylvania wilds over the long weekend, took lots of pictures relaxed and got back refreshed. There simply is nothing in this world as refreshing as being with nature away from all the humdrum with your best friend... no cell phones, PC's ,TV etc... Paying attention to each other, sort of rediscovering and rekindling the sparks which gets lost in the 7-5 rigmarole...
We had rain one day bright sunshine another day! it was really pleasant and we had a wonderful time. We fed deer in the backyard of the cabin we rented, lit a fire and played with sparklers and even had our own fireworks display! On the whole really enjoyed the break! :D
Am still tied up with a lot of stuff that am sorting through hoping to get back soon.
Hope everyone is doing well. Enjoy Summer (In the Northern Hemisphere :)) and Monsoon in the Tropics :)
About the posted picture : This tree just seemed to just go on and on and on... What caught my eye was the humongous growth at about one feet above the ground on the trunk. This picture is 4 shots stitched together (used layers in PS to overlap and stitch).
This region was old growth forest and most of the trees were really really tall and the region is referred to as the Forest cathedral. This is an old white pine guesstimating its age as between 200-350 years. I am always amazed by trees, especially the older ones, if only they could talk... (or may be they do, if only we could understand :).
You can take a closer look here
And see the peaceful trees extend
their myriad leaves in leisured dance—
they bear the weight of sky and cloud
upon the fountain of their veins.

The Red Bird
Two Redbirds came in early May,
Flashing like rubies on the way;
Their joyous notes awoke the day,
And made all nature glad and gay. -C C M
Spring also is the time for renewal for birds which start loosing their winter plumage and get their bright selves back for the breeding season. The Northern Cardinal is one of those which retain their color through winter. It is one of the most vibrant colored passerine birds in North America. The red is so bright and the black so dark and of course the crest! It makes for one beautiful bird!
I am kinda tied up with stuff and am unable to spend much time on Flickr, will be back soon to visit all your amazing streams to see what you have been seeing :)
Hope everyone is having a fabulous week!
Listening to Don't stop thinking about tomorrow - Fleetwood Mac. They were in town a couple of weeks back, it is fun to listen to old favorites live even when they don't sound the same any more :)

In Droplet and Bokeh Heaven...
?Nature is the true revelation of the Deity to man. The nearest green field is the inspired page from which you may read all that it is needful for you to know.?
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Early morning when the sun comes up after a couple of rainy days, the grass glistens as if strewn with a gazillion crystals... One needs to get a little wet to really see the magic... It is amazing how much there is to see once we open our eyes and really take the time.
I have seen these droplets so many times growing up.. as kids we used to gently snip a grass blade with a droplet and run it on top our eyes (I don't know who came up with the idea but it used to feel so cool against the eyelid :)). Once I entered the realm of Macro's (thanks to all you amazing and inspiring Flicker friends) I have kind of regained the eyes of my childhood when everything around me fascinated me :)
I like to lie down on the grass and watch the clouds float by... It has been pouring for a couple of days now am waiting for the sun to break out of the clouds :)
HBW everyone...
