Today, the Labor Department released statistics showing that 651,000 American jobs were lost in the month of February, with the unemployment rate rising to 8.1 percent, the worst since December 1983.
This chart compares the job loss so far in this recession to job losses in the 1990-1991 recession and the 2001 recession – showing how dramatic and unprecedented the job loss over the last 14 months has been. Over the last 14 months, our economy has lost a total of 4.4 million jobs – and continuing job losses in the next few months are predicted.
By comparison, we lost a total of 1.6 million jobs in the 1990-1991 recession, before the economy began turning around and jobs began increasing; and we lost a total of 2.7 million jobs in the 2001 recession, before the economy began turning around and jobs began increasing.

Why is it that when Bush doubled the debt it was an outrage but now that Obama is going to more than double his debt it's a grand idea that will save the world?

Hey Bob Sponge, you´re lack of recent history and basic logic embarrass you? Those jobs are lost because Bush, and his fellow Reich Wing movement conservatives, with the full support of blind loyalist, have sucked all the financial resources from the consumer class and redistributed it upward into the bank accounts of the ultra wealthy.
Bush made it possible for many of the ultra wealthy, like the Walton heirs, the Koch brothers, Warren Buffet and other billionaires to claim their hundreds of millions a year they earn, as capital gains which he cut in half. Thanks to the Hedge Fund loophole they only have to pay 15% tax on their hundreds of millions while the middleclass have to pay 22 to 26%.
Buffett blasts system that lets him pay less tax than secretary

Since the 1970s American productivity has increased by 60%. Americans work more hours per week than any other society and receive less vacation time. Has this translated into more money and a higher standard of living for them? Hell no. All that extra production has only enriched the top social economic tier. The rest actually have lost ground in real income. That´s all thanks to the Reich Wing and their work to return us to the Gilded Age from Reconstruction to the Great Depression. It´s understandable why the ultra wealthy champion the return of the sweat shops, 80 hour work week, child labor, virtual slave labor in the coal mines, Robber Barons, and etc. What´s shocking is the moron blue collar workers who also support it.
Bob Sponge, learn what the word "socialism" means. Your usage of this word make you look dumber than your pal Rick Star. What built our highway system with everyone´s taxes? Socialism. What pays for the 911 emergency system? Socialism. What pays for public schools? Socialism. What pays for the FAA which makes air travel safe? Socialism. Every society uses varying degrees of socialism That´s what being a society is. The U.S. practices less socialism than any other industrialized nation. We have the lowest tax rates, the rich pay a smaller percentage of their income than the middle class, and we have no socialized healthcare. This socialism crap is just the issued mantra for moron sheeple to chant.
What do you think of this “socialist”?
So McCain is saying exactly what Obama said. But yes, Obama is a socialist. So

Oh, what´s the Reich Wing´s solution for the economy? More tax cuts for the ultra wealthy. The very things that caused the problem to start. It won´t resolve anything but the wealthy will be happy and they´ll just blame everything on the opposition. As usual. AND, by all means, impede anything Obama tries to do. Above all make sure the left doesn´t succeed as a few of the morons won´t be able to help but see what´s really going on.
