while fully going back to taking shots, i remember now the hesitation i had in the first place. black and white or color? i post process often both before choosing the one i want. the eye is attracted to color like a moth on a lamp, so in a certain way, shooting in black and white is like avoiding the main ingredient, de facto diminishing the impact.
On the other hand, the raw, straightforward aspect of a black and white shot, by its graphic impact, speaks to the trained eye in a way a color shot will probably never do.
of course it all depends on the subject, and what you want to convey but it's nonetheless a fun subtle game to play for each new shot.
