FRIENDLY GRAY WHALE BLOWS

    Newer Older

This is not the whale named Harmony that I told about at the beginning of the touching a gray whale set , but is another friendly one that visited my tour boat one summer.

As a whale tour guide I have been lucky to have a few encounters with friendly whales. These massive whales have to work really hard to maneuver their body close to a vessel.

I have had hundreds of whales slide under my boats over the years, most are not there to be touched, but they sure know the boat is there! The amazing thing is, in all the encounters I have had, not once has a whale hit the boat hard or jarred it more than a slight nudge!

Wonderful shot. It's great to see people in the shot to give it scale.

The water is so clear, too.

What a wonderful day that must have been.
