Pu`u Hau Kea -- Massive Cinder Cone ~ Island of Hawaii![]() ![]() At 13,460 feet (some have corrected that to 13,460 ft), a few hundred feet lower in elevation than Mauna Kea's summit on Pu`u Wekiu (above and behind me -- we are facing south), this huge cinder cone is on of the favorites of snowboarders when it has this much snow. You can see the curved tracks running down its face. The boarders must laboriously climb up the cones face to its rim before taking the fast ride back down on their boards.
