Maybe bring the levels down a knotch for a more natural look as opposed to static on a TV screen.

kellinahanbassket perhaps have a look through a telescope....that is a "more natural" look
you're looking towards the center of the galaxy at everything from giant cold clouds of molecular hydrogen to dust to stars of various colors, tempratures and size
i appreciate the fact that you gave it a maybe ...but that's as natural as it is that's like telling the sun to please not shine so bright today
cheers

Woo-hoo! I love this widefield stuff. You have Cygnus (The Swan, the Northern Cross) buried right in the middle there, too. This is pretty great color as well. Reminds me of the title of a science fiction novel: The Stars Like Dust.

Nicely acquired! What was the exposure time on that? No perceptible trailing and outstanding contrast to the Milky Way! Well done.

um....well.....er.....um.....I ussually keep track of such things but the night I took it I didn't have my watch with me (you see I rarely wear one) but it's as long as it took to have a cigarette and if I remember correct it was at f5 and about 800 ISO thanks also to chipdatajeffb for your comment.
Way to pick out the Swan

Awesome photo, thanks for sharing.
I think this photo would make a great addition to the Natural Patterns, Shapes, and Textures (moderated) group. Please consider posting it there!

Great great shot Jeff. Someone spent a lot of time on that creation, pity so few of us get to see it

I saw this in You vs. the Best

[Have been trawling the group pool and this came up as one of the very best]
