if (all_that_glitters != gold)![]() This is an attempt to capture the holographic "hypnostrip" on euro notes. The hypnostrip is marketed as one of the features that makes the note really hard to forge but is actually to make the general public go "ooo shiny!" and forget the real reason their European currency was abolished (by who?) and why they now have pictures of buildings instead of the customary figureheads and social pioneers relating to their culture.
Canon EOS 350D, Canon 60mm EFS macro, f/7.1, 1/8second, ISO 200. Tripod and wireless release lit with one 10 watt halogen spotlight obliquely to excite the hologram. Brought the levels in and bordered using Gimp/Linux. It looks like I should have set the white balance in-camera to correct for the halogen spotlight, but I didn't. The title is written in Javascript, a computer language used extensively on websites like Flickr. Roughly the title means "If all that glitters is not gold..." The gold industry has this result locally. The money industry has a similar result globally. Beware the rat race, even if you win you only become the fastest rat. Commentsfreeloosedirt
