Clouds over King Lear's Lake

Clouds over King Lear's Lake

Watermeade Country Park, Leicester.
A day dodging showers and dog poo. More of a test of new equipment, the area on the bottom right could do with something in to add a bit of interest.
Canon 5D, EF 17-40 F4 L at 17 mm.
Exposure 2.5 seconds, f/22 ISO 100.
Lee 0.9 hard grad across the sky and 0.6 grad across the whole image to increase exposure.

Ghost Swans.

Ghost Swans.

Long exposure of water flowing over a weir. This was taken on a foot bridge with me hoping nobody would try to come by and knock my tripod and camera into the river. The trails of the moving swans can be seen as white ghost-like lines.
F=27mm, f/11, 41 seconds. Canon 17-40 F4 L.
Hitech Pro ND 10 and Lee 0.6 hard grad across the sky.
Processed in Lightroom and Silver Efex Prox.

Weir

Weir

The clouds looked interesting so took a trip to Watermead Country Park. I seemed to spend a lot of time avoiding showers that seem to know when I had spent a lot of time composing a shot. I also took the opportunity to play with the ND 10 filter some more.
This is the weir at the bottom end of King Lear Lake. The sun was reflecting off the water and the sun being low produced a lovely effect on the running water. I also used a Lee 0.6 ND grey grad to take some of the glare out the sky.
Exposure 22 s, f/8, ISO 100. Canon 17-40 at 21 mm, Hitech Pro 10 ND, Lee 0.6 ND grad, soft.

Hitech Pro 10ND B&W

Image from below converted to B&W in Silver Efex Pro 2

A note: things to do while waiting for long exposures. Try to find bits of aerial from your remote release because you have pulled it out too hard and it has fallen apart. Luckily I got everything and assembled it, appears to be fine..
