Macro Diamond Photography Quick and Easy Way (croped version)

Macro Diamond Photography Quick and Easy Way (croped version) by S&P Graphics.
Today my customer from the east coast ordered this beautiful 3.36 carat diamond. I wanted to take accurate picture of this diamond without any touch up from photoshop before I email it to her. So I set up quick strobist style shot without bothering my studio equipment.

The result came out great. Thank you strobist for inspiring me.

Thanks for the setup shot.

Looks a bit soft on the front facet edges, is that possible?

At the large size, the reflections are very complicated, cluttered even. I wonder if you could get a cleaner image with a macro light tent, like the $10 studio.

I can see lots of stuff from the room,, the desk for example, where this was shot reflected in the facets.

Gorgeous stone...and for anyone who is looking at this exquisite stone and doesnt really know much about jewelry and stones, I suggest a good video that might get you up to par on precious metals and stones on AnswersTV's website in their jewelry section.
