Adobe Homes

These little homes kept the miners cool during the day, and warm through the nights.

Inside the bottle house

Inside the bottle house

Nothing is known of the Calico House's origins. It might have been created in Calico or brought there from another ghost town, possibly even Nevada. But it is also possible that this is a modern reproduction.

Walter Knott (of Knott's Berry Farm amusement park fame) bought the ghost town of Calico in 1951 and restored it from old photos. Therefore, Calico is a mix of original buildings and replicas built on remaining foundations. In 1966, Knott donated the town to San Bernardino County.

Visitors cannot go inside of the house, but I managed a shot with my nifty camera lens, and a little luck.

Le me, through my kid's eye.

Le me, through my kid's eye.

Sorelle took this picture of me because she thinks I need to post it online to find a boyfriend.
Any takers?

On a different note...not too shabby of a shot for a 9 y/o! Good framing and use of rule of 3rd.
