Peanut Butter and Jellyfish.

Peanut Butter and Jellyfish.

So, seeing that I'm actually eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, I guess you can tell where the title came from today. :-)

We spent the day Sunday at the California Academy of Science in San Francisco, and for the first time in my life I actually got some decent pictures of jellyfish. They are, without much doubt, the strangest and most beautiful creatures I've ever seen.

The Academy also has a wonderful "rain forest" filled with tropical birds and butterflies. I actually think the place would be a perfect location for a SF flickrwalk. Anybody interested?

Don't sit under the mistletoe with......dead people.

Don't sit under the mistletoe with......dead people.

On the way to Yosemite a week ago, we made an early morning stop at the Chinese Camp Cemetery. Looking East, I spotted this poor ol' oak tree, loaded down with mistletoe.

We finally got some much needed rain up here this week and our local ski resort is opening tomorrow. It's one of the latest opening days they've ever had, and there still isn't a lot of snow.

10-Stop Filters. They ain't just for waterfalls.

10-Stop Filters. They ain't just for waterfalls.

We had some nice quick-moving clouds in Yosemite last weekend and it was fun to be able to get a slow exposure of them in the middle of the afternoon.

It was even more fun standing in the middle of a gorgeous Yosemite meadow watching them go by.

It's raining cats and dogs here today. Anybody want me to pick up a puppy? :-)

Finally got to use my new Christmas Present

Finally got to use my new Christmas Present

A 10-stop ND really made a difference on Bridal Veil Falls. There was only a trickle of water (dang weird year so far) but the breeze kicked the falls over against the cliff for a pretty interesting comp. The only problem with a 10-stop in Yosemite is watching out for your tripod with all of the screaming, running, fighting and playing children during that long exposure.

Okay, I bet you haven't seen this shot of the Golden Gate bridge before.

Okay, I bet you haven't seen this shot of the Golden Gate bridge before.

I haven't been out to shoot in ages, so I decided to play around with some archive stuff. And now that I'm looking at it, I think it might cover the next three days. First, there's a fence. Then there's the Golden Gate bridge, which has to be one of the biggest cliches known to man. And finally, some selective color action for Sliders Sunday. Whoppie. My work here is done.
