North to south view of rue de l'Ancienne Comédie in the 6th arrondissement where the British author Bruce Chatwin used to buy his Moleskine notebooks.
Although it's a short street, it has two different kinds of atmosphere: the northern half has a somewhat sleazy feel - there's a hotel with a gloomy, lonely entrance and some small shops that gave me the impression of being musty - while in the southern half there's a four-star hotel with a friendly looking facade and a Timberland store.
Perhaps I should have looked more closely but unfortunately I couldn't find the place where the stationer which Chatwin visited frequently must have been.
