I stopped by my favorite bagel shop to find that, after a decade in business, the owners had suddenly closed their doors.

Apparently the abruptness of the shutdown had also caught the employees by surprise. This young man had the honor of being the last employee ever hired. I feel bad for the employees who were suddenly out of work, and for the loss to the neighborhood.

It's been at least a month since I have been taking walks and making photos on the university campus. My portrait subjects are starting to see me elsewhere around town! Kat saw me in my favorite coffee shop and said hi. I took advantage of the great window light and made another portrait!

An impromptu fashion portrait of a photographer friend. We were out finding random strangers to photograph when we happened upon a forgotten hardhat and a plain wall!

I am happily surprised at how willing some total strangers are to be photographed when I only met them moments before (and, in this case, fumbled the introduction!).

I noticed her waiting for her coffee order. She had a winning look. A snug sweater dress with an open cardigan over the top; tights and buccaneer boots to finish. We made maybe four exposures. Each one closer-in than the last, finishing with this one. I didn't review them at the time and when I finally saw them, this one was my favorite. So open and honest for someone who only met me two minutes before.

This photo affirms everything I like about documentary street portraiture.
