Beach at Vik, Southern Iceland. In the future when I see waves, or snow, or hail, I will think back to this day and remember this was extreme weather. The waves were bigger than any I have ever seen – the power was just awesome!

This is THE waterfall that people go to see in Iceland. I visited a few years ago at the same time of year, and then it had wonderful frozen icicles all around. The unseasonably warm February this year means that this wasn’t the case this time. Also, there had been little snow so the path down was sheet ice, meaning we weren’t able to get close – very disappointing!!

One of the beautiful and impressive falls in Southern Iceland. Spray and wind are not the photographer's friends. Neither are other tourists. But Photoshop is!! ;-)

we're back from Iceland!!
We went out on a super jeep tour to see the Northern Lights. The weather had been cloudy/rainy for nights and tours were being cancelled. Finally we got to go out, but the frequent rain/snow/hail storms didn't fill us with hope! finally, at around 12.30am, we pulled off the road and looked up at the hole that was forming in the clouds. A pale streak spread across the sky - certainly not dancing curtains of light, but on camera this is what we got! Interestingly, the shot in the comments was luck - we were stopped in a field and the sky was covered in cloud. there was some strange light behind the clouds, but I only realised it was green once I got back - i had just been playing with long exposures to pass the time as we didn't really realise the lights were showing above the clouds!
