The Metropolitan Building, located at 33 John R Street was designed in 1924 by the firm of Weston & Ellington. Sadly abandoned since the late 70's, the 14-story Neo-Gothic tower has an uncertain future.

A rare glimpse into the Wayne County Building in downtown Detroit. Design in 1897 by John Scott and located at 600 Randolph, this restored structure is home to county offices.

Another piece of Detroit is gone. The George V. N. Lothrop Branch of the Detroit Public Library was demolished this month, and is to be replaced with nothing. It was built in 1912, designed by B.C. Wetzel. It was a Carnegie library.

What you see here is another example of why I am here. Documentation of these structures before it is too late is vital. Sadly for most, these "ruins" are just playgrounds, the "hip" thing to do, as evidenced here on Flickr.
