after so much quality time with pops, he's in a great mood and starts smiling when kris begins talking to him.
if you look close, you can see the "whites" of his eyes, which we haven't been able to see before this moment.

i'm not sure i'd be smiling if i was in his
place, but he seems to muster one
nonetheless.

Wow! I had no idea that babies had such good
facial muscles this young. They always
dismiss those early smiles as a "reflex" or
"gas" but I always thought there is more to
it. What a charmer!

i knew some smarty pants was going to come
along and give me the "facial muscles"
theory, but i had not idea it'd be my own
sister.
i read somewhere that most of what you
think of smiling is actually just a grimmace
or gas; but he did it so repeatedly to kris'
voice that i'll choose to remember that he
was smiling :-)
that said, he probably can't see who he's
smiling at. his vision is about 20/600 now
and won't be 20/20 until 12 months from now (
of course, assuming that his continued to
develop normally after birth while they were
still fused shut ).

what's the facial muscles theory? LOL. I was
just amazed that his facial muscles would be
so strong to cast such an expression, just
like I'm amazed at everything else this
little guy can do alread... Whadoiknow...
PS- right from day one, Adam would laugh
out loud in his sleep. It sounded like a real
laugh - as if he remembered a joke.

That is a completely amazing picture.
Incredible. That is a look of "I love you
guys" if I ever saw it. How awesome. Just
awesome.
