day 654: odin's first masterpiece! I.

i wasn't sure how much patience odin would have for finger painting ( for the most part he doesn't like stuff that sticks to his fingers and hands ) but we thought we'd give it a try today and, surprisingly, he took right to it and immediately began gingerly dabbing his fingers in the paint as he said the color's name ( "reeeeddd", "booo", "geeeeen", "puple", "ornge" ) and then brushed his fingers deliberately on the paper.

	snowdeal says: Afroswede: "Did you use any particular method to teach him colors?" nothing special other than other than repetition. since well before he could speak, we've tried to identify any object along with it's color and he's been able to pick out colors for a long time, but naming them is relatively recent phenomenon. relentlesstoil: "We shall have to have a web gallery of Odin art :)" indeed. we try to convince him that there are much more productive ways to spend one's time, but he doesn't listen :-) ladygypsy: "I'm in love with his shirt! From where do you get his cute duds?" it's usually a mix of something old and something new. his boots and shorts are new, but odin also has lots of aunt's who like send us their favorite, cute hand-me-downs. we like this shirt a lot and the tag says it's from children's place. but i'm guessing they don't stock it anymore. i think candy may have given us this, but my memory is so horrible i'm usually wrong when i try to guess :-) Jim, Christy, & Nathan: "so impressed with Odin's color mastery - and he is very neat.
