RAW chicken sandwich served at McDonalds 3/2007

This was roughly my 3rd time ever going to a McDonalds... and my last. I ate some raw chicken before noticing and spitting it out in horror, I didn't expect good food, but I did expect cooked food. FYI, I did look at it before eating it, as raking the great blobs of mayo off took some effort. I can't even think of chicken now without feeling like I'm adrift on a choppy sea. Ack, you ain't kiddin'. That's the rawest of raw. And frankly, while I love sushi, I'm not getting it at McDonald's, served between two buns. So, when's the lawsuit and when do I get my half? I went to paralegal school...I'm sure I could handle this. I worked for Jacoby & Meyers, famous for legal quality throughout the country. Or wait, it was commercials, wasn't it? Same thing happened to me in 1991. I bought an order of chicken strips at a local resaurant. When I got home I turned the tv on and started eating. It was dark, so I couldn't see that they were raw. The rubber-like texture prompted me to take a look at them. I was furious...didn't get sick or anything, but still a bad experience. Also, they lost a customer.

I think this is rather pleasant -- it means they have to cook the chicken breast at some point in the typical process. This particular one didn't get cooked, but that means the rest are genuine, right?

Having had an experience where everyone at our table got massively undercooked chicken at a Chili's (with the excuse "our new cook is used to cooking beef"), I know very well that "feeling like I'm adrift on a choppy sea" feeling, even though I'm not usually squeamish about my food.

I went to the McDonald's in Carlisle, PA one time to get nuggets for the kids and I just didn't get a good feeling from the condition of the building or from the smell from the bag, so before my wife handed them out, she and I started examining them.

Sure enough, more than half were raw inside. We went in to complain and the manager didn't even look like he cared. He gave us our money back and we went somewhere else instead.

Just thinking back to that moment makes me feel a little ill.

received the same strips back (complete with original bite mark and test incision) only cooked this time

To the point that I was losing blood with severe abdominal cramps and vomiting. Needless to say, the emergency room visit found E Coli food poisoning. just be glad your not the poor bastard that has to work there. When you get paid and treated like they do its guaranteed to be less then sanitary. Who grows up wanting to be in the fast food industry? So you can expect all complaints to be handled with the minimalist of care as you are customer #9584. If a customer is lost that means less work for them.

Havent eaten fast food in 8 years now. thats when i started my first job at a fast food joint. We were so pressed for speed that whatever we dropped was picked up and used, managers just looked the other way.

whatever you do don't get angry with them take the 4$ loss. because lets just say you'll be inadvertently flossing with pubes on your next visit or "corrected sandwich"

It wasn't $1.79, it was a more expensive "premium" item. It was over $4.28 a sandwich before the "eat-in" tax. Last night I found and uploaded the receipt as now many who haven't visited Flickr are calling it a hoax. Former McD's employees are swearing this could not be a McDonald's sandiwch. Why I care I have no idea. Anyway, the proof is here.

I love the composition here. The squished bun creates human interest as it shows evidence of interaction with the sandwich. The focus is spot on with a nice amount of bokeh... it's a beautiful photograph if it weren't, you know, absolutely disgusting.

Congrats on getting this boing-boing'ed. All flickrites aspire to such greatness! :D

I'm glad you've posted this. I spent a few years as a manager in a restaurant that served chicken breasts, and any kitchen that allows something as raw as that to leave the grill deserves any and all bad press that they get. It's laziness that borders on criminal negligence.

Another menu item to be suspicious of is the salad. Pathogens and bacteria are easily transferred to lettuce through improper storage and handling, especially in restaurants with sub par safety procedures. Considering salads aren't cooked or heated, they are arguably more dangerous than anything else on the menu.

Whatsername: The cook. Definitely. And, everyone here lacks enough info to know if you had earned a tip - after all, if he had to pay for the food anyway, and your attitude was similar to here ("Not my fault!") then I wouldn't have tipped. On the other hand, if you were apologetic and nice, and did what you could to help the situation, I would've tipped the usual 20+%.

I think that mcds is the most gross disgusting and the last place i would eat at! :[ they actually pay people too rip up rain forest to feed the chickens! and for beef they usally cut the cows windpipe out when they are fully awake and in pain. Sometimes they shoot the poor cows and rip off there heads! it is the grizzleyst task i have ever herd of!! the is such bs.

Yuck, I had eaten half of it!! I had to barf in the bag that it came in! I turned around and brought it to the manager and he just asked if I wanted another one! Are you crazy?? I said noway! I later called the manager and he hadn't even shown it to the main manager, he actually threw it away! I asked that he get it out of the trash and give it to the main manager, he did. I asked them to report it and they did! I am a R.N. and don't want to mess around with salmonella!!!

Ya know this makes me sooo mad, we went to wendy this weekend and we had 5 childeren with us a 3,5,9,11 year old. Well the 3 and 5 year old ate all their nuggets, they were hungry, but the other two said something was not right, after eating 6 of them , we were in a car and turn the light on they were raw and i mean the middle was raw. The manager could of caredless they said they had someone new working and he cooked them wrong, we asked for our money back they refused. Told us to call corp office, the kids have been having stomach cramps and loose bowls since this happen, we did take them for test, but i have to say wendy has lost good customers for life. If we could sue we would but i dont think we will get very far who knows. And no were not money hungry but darn how can they do that to kids and not care, i tryed to stop them from giving any more out but she refused to talk to me for approx 15 mins but when i saw a baby getting them i stop it right there and said you will talk to me now, she still did not care

It is gross on 4/27/2009 I ordered from a McDonalds in Oklahoma going to Kansas on I-35, I got a McChicken and continued on to Kansas. I had eaten over half of the McChicken when I felt something that was not right. I had not noticed it earlier I guess because I was eating fries with it. I spit a piece out and it was completely raw chicken meat. I got so mad, I was now on the turnpike and could not turn back, so I stopped at the next McDonalds I came to. I showed the chicken to the manager there and she said ,Oh my god where did you get that? I told her and she gave me the corp. number.

I called them and told them where I recieved the food. They had the owner call me back and he said he was sorry it happened and would send me a we are sorry letter and would contact his insurence company. I have not heard anything else and did not recieve a letter. I have had a upset stomach cramps and loose bowls for three days. i am going to get checked out. I dont know if anything could be done. I do have the rest of the Chicken in the freezer in case .
