Par une journée pluvieuse

Par une journée pluvieuse

On a rainy day

This photo, after processing, gave a very "déjà vu"-ish semblance, as if it came from a 1940 French movie. So I thought, "Why not give it a reasonably french mannerism?" Hence cometh the name.

You need to check it against black background.

Commending belief to the next generation

Commending belief to the next generation

The photo was taken at 'Ashura' procession. Here, a boy is seen striking his chest with the hand, a common ritual for Shia muslims on the day of Ashura.

Ashura, which literally means the "Tenth" in Arabic, refers to the tenth day of Muharram. This day is of particular significance to Shi'a Muslims. For Shi'as, commemoration of Ashura is not a festival, but rather a sad event. On this day Shi'a are in remembrance, and mourning attire is worn. Mourners congregate at a procession and strike their chests, lamenting and grieving to the tune of beating drums and chants of "Ya Hussain"
