Queen Anne's lace

Queen Anne's lace by Ezra S F.
I wanted a shot of this plant because I thought it was Hogweed mentioned on one my Thistle photos. Apparently lots of plants have "white flowers in large compound umbels". My best guess is Queen Anne's lace comparing how flowers group, the leaves, etc.

This is an interesting plant -- not that I ever knew its name.

If you look closely at the center of the umbel there is often a red or purple flower among the white. Legend has it eating those colored flowers will stop epileptic seizures! But I doubt there is any evidence to back that one up.

The water hemlock I've seen looks more like elderberry- taller, bigger leaves. But the flowers of all 3 look similar.

This is the view from above clearly without a red or purple flower...
Queen Anne's lace

Maybe this picture of Queen Anne's Lace on Wikipedia is wrong? It looks nearly identical to another my my QAL pics.
Queen Anne's lace

QAL is too short, maxing out at 4 feet. This one was closer to 5.5 feet tall.

The leaves of QAL are closer to this picture.

very good composition. And the blue sky is the best background for this plant :)
