I'm practicing my strobe skills. This is a self portrait I took tonight. Probably the best one of myself yet. Let me tell you I look awesome considering just how humid it was outside and how sweaty I really was. This is a vintage camera I inherited from my grandfather. I'm not sure what it is, but its way cool.

Shot Details:
D40x & AF-S 70-200 f/2.8
ISO 100 | 70mm | f/2.8 | 1/60 sec
triggered via wireless remote (reason I used the D40x) on 2 sec delay
The camera was set to daylight settings, and I warmed it just a touch in Lightroom.

Strobist Info:
Key Light
SB600 on stand through shoot through umbrella camera right
tethered via SC-29 TTL cable - 1/1 power (zoom to 24mm)
Rim / Fill Light
SB800 on SU-4 mode, camera left and slightly behind me on stand, bare 1/32 power
(zoom to 105mm)

Nice. Two strobes really make a difference. In my opinion though, your SB-600 might be a little too hot (or a little too close). Highlights on your right cheek and arm are a bit intense. Otherwise, pretty good balance.

I do agree that highlight is a little bright. I should have turned the power down just a little since I couldn't put the stand back though because I was lying on a path with garden around me, and I didn't want to smoosh the flowers. I really wanted that light to be a little more behind me than it is.

You should really try it. I was intimidated at first as well, but it is a lot of fun to play with. One more element to learn, but I'm discovering a new dimension of photography capable with it.
