The smaller right-hand side of Palace Green is, as far as I can tell, the original part of the manor. I still can't find my notes regarding who built it, and when exactly it was built, but with luck, I'll run across all of that information before too long.

It's interesting to note that the roof on this section of the house is in far better shape.

The land this home sits on, if I haven't mentioned it, is owned by a local land company—Waiting, no doubt, for the recovery of our area's housing market to finish erasing what neglect hasn't obliterated so far.

Looking In

Looking In

A bedroom window at Palace Green. Visible are the remnants of a copper gutter system, a mattress (complete with vine growing in through the window), the tatters of an old rolling shade, and the mounts for a set of shutters that is nowhere to be found.

Landscape, Barren

Landscape, Barren

Originally built somewhere around 1740, and expanded in the early 1800's, Palace Green sits atop a landscape of beautifully rolling hills, once a part of an extended farm. Unfortunately, that's about all that I know of the property so far, other than seeing it mentioned in a couple that I can't recall at the moment.

I will be providing more photos shortly, along with additional historical information, if I can figure out where I put my notes...

Palace Green

The right-hand side of the manor was built ca. 1740; the larger left-hand side, in the early 19th century. The home sits abandoned today, owned by a land company that's waiting to turn it into a shiny new neighborhood.

An interesting sign, discovered by my compatriot at a site in Dulles.
