St James Park

St James Park

Hi all!
Haven't had much of a presence lately. weather has been rubish on a lot of my trips, got wet and fed up and then went on holiday.
This one is probably out of order but it was hot and colourful so it's in! It's also something of an experiment.....
The foreground flowers and the background buildings are two images blended together. Focus on one and then the other....... both as sharp as each other. A bit more work than a single shot but the results are quite pleasing

Towards Blencathra

Towards Blencathra

The sun shone on the Lake District.........and 'twas trully glorious....for about an hour!
Looking over Tewett Tarn towards Blencathra (saddleback) the sun was low by the time this was taken. With so much rain the previous few days the mist was still thick but the shaddows long giving that 'lazy sunday' feeling

Naddle Valley morning mist

Naddle Valley morning mist

Second morning of this trip...... Oh joy, still raining at breakfast! By the time we had finished, loaded the car and headed off it had stopped....... but the destination we headed to first hadn't!!
After a quick rethink in the car park opposite Thirlmere it was decided we would stop here for a while as it looked like it was clearing up.
Standing on that mound for twenty minutes or so I had that feeling that Ansel Adams must have experienced thousands of times as this scene just materialised out of nowhere. One of the highlights of the trip!

rain and rainbow (Explored!)

rain and rainbow (Explored!)

First day of a photograpy holiday in the Lake District and joy-oh-joy....it rained.......HARD........ALL DAY!!
There will be a series of shots from this 'holiday', not because I particularly enjoyed the trip or learnt that much but because my stream will be very bear if I don't!
Also, when you see images of this place it always looks so peaceful and lovely........ when the reality is it rains (on average) two and a half days out of three for the whole year!
I had totaly lost my 'mojo' by the time I took this. Slopping around for six hours in a wet forrest somewhere around Manesty, Derwent Water with no light just isn't fun and if this hadn't happened when it did I would have happily piled everything in the car and turned a four day break into a one night stand!

Beach Huts

Beach Huts

Hi all.
Sorry I haven't been around much lately but work is hectic and what little spare time I am getting is taken up with taking rather than posting at the momment. Hope you are all well in flickr land?
Took this on a trip to southwold in january and since my last two posts have been mono's I thought we would get some colour back in the stream.
Apparently, these huts can go for anything upto £60K! Amazing when you think that a lot of these ended up in the sea last winter due to some over zealous tides?
I think I will stick with the B&B down the road! :~)
