Space Mountain Fireworks

Fireworks shoot off behind Walt Disney World's Space Mountain... well, sorta. :) Ok, not really.

I admit that there is a good bit of Photoshop work at play here. This shot is a composite of two shots (with a little bit of rearranging and some artistic license) that were taken from our balcony at the Contemporary Resort.

Originally the fireworks were somewhat off to the left, as they're shot off a good ways back behind Cinderella Castle. The shots turned out well enough that I decided I wanted a different look and put Space Mountain in the foreground. So, take a little pink, a little blue (extra points if you get the movie reference), and about 45 minutes, and you have the resulting image above. Note the hidden mickey. :)

And yes, since I know someone will say something about it, this is a composite of two different bursts of fireworks. The blue/orange is one set, the streamers with the red/yellow is the other. The hidden mickey is actually my own creation out of one little tiny burst, assembled together to form a shape like I wanted.

For those that are curious, the two original base images are here:
Wishes Fireworks From the Contemporary 1 and Wishes Fireworks from the Contemporary 2.

Every photograph is a lie. I can't understand the people who complain about photoshop. If every lie was as nice as this one !!! ;-)

      jan_karol:

Well, there are two ways of looking at "photoshopped" images. Color correction, brightness adjustment, cropping, redeye removal, etc all fall in the 'acceptable' category to most people. Where people start getting bent (particularly on Flickr) is when images are fabricated out of thin air, as I did here.

The major problem is that a lot of the people doing the fabricating aren't up front about it, and pass off heavily photomanipulated images as their own photography. I guess I have too much of a sense of "artistic ethics" to do that, hence the full disclosure.
