three pumpkins

What a great thing that happened to me Friday night. I had to shoot some pumpkins for Brooklyn Paper when I wandered upon this stoop in Brooklyn Heights on an empty street. The rain clouds had just left the city cool and damp..it was a perfect October evening.

I saw these pumpkins on my bike ride home and took my camera out but couldn't get a decent shot due to the fact I didn't have a tripod on me. I tried resting the camera on the railing but just couldn't get the shot I was looking for. I almost left when I heard two people walking by me and I looked up. Is that a tripod I thought, squinting my eyes into the barely lit street. What are the chances considering I was the only person on the street for the past few minutes (this area of Bklyn is very residential and not much foot traffic).

Before I continue though I have to go back to earlier in the day. I just stared shooting for a new website called RareDaily.com, doing interiors of bars and restaurants. I know that they're starting one in LA as well and I immediately thought of a friend of mine who shoots in LA and is looking for some photography work. I sent an email to my guy at Rare Daily, highly recommending him as someone reliable who can shoot beautiful interiors for their LA branch.

Ok back to Friday night.

Yes it was someone holding a tripod and even better it was a Manfrotto..same plate as I had on my camera which means I wouldn't even have to switch them.

I stopped the couple and it turns out it was a photographer I had met on a few shoots over the years in Brooklyn. She had just been given the tripod as a present from her boyfriend and hadn't even used it yet. I was like oh I understand if you don't want to let me borrow it, but she said nahhh just go for it.

I set it up and got this shot. Good Karma for what I did earlier in the day for my friend Caleb I thought.
