if you cut onions next to an open flame (i do it next to one of my burners), it helps prevent tears! because the flame sucks in surrounding oxygen, it also takes with it the enzymes that cause eye irritations. it may not totally eliminate crying altogether, but i notice a significant difference!
I LOVE my onion goggles! Seriously, no more crying at all. The only thing I will say is that I have the brown/tortoiseshell ones and they are tight! They fit my head tightly, but they would never fit my boyfriends giant noggin.
Also, whenever I make french onion soup, I use the food processor to slice all the onions - it's worth taking it out and cleaning it after to not have to cut all those onions.
Hi. Just wondering where you got the glass mixing bowl in this picture. Food network uses them on so many of their shows but I'm having trouble finding them. Thanks for any help and I love your blog!
