Sometimes the light is just right

The sky was overcast but as the sun went down it came in under the clouds and settled a golden glow over the bay.

I took this photo in part because my father was visiting and as the sun ducked under the overcast sky, my dad started to reminisce about when the light is "just right." He recalled a moment, driving south on #83 near Swan River, Manitoba (Kanville, it doesn't exist any more), when the evening light came in between some low clouds on the horizon and another bank of clouds higher up. That thin strip of light came shooting across the prairie like a light through a crack in the top of a door, and illuminated the highway and the grain elevators behind him. It was perfect, he said. I didn't have perfect, but I had nice... so I snapped it.
