At the Albufeira Bullring, there is a GUESS? store, which is a permanent sponsor of pretty much all bullfights that occur there. The presence of this store constantly associates your reputed brand with the economic and commercial support of bullfighting.
Bullfighting tortures bulls (at least six bulls per bullfight) just for entertainment. In the European Union, this brutal activity is only lawful in Portugal. In Spain and France it has lost its popularity and social acceptance. In Portugal in particular, where this GUESS? store promotes and sponsors bullfights, recent polls show the majority of the Portuguese public want bullfighting formally banned by Parliament. Foreign tourists attracted to the bullfights taking place at the Albufeira Bullring usually leave after a few minutes, disgusted and shocked with the violence towards animals.
I urge GUESS? Inc. to clear its name and image in Portugal. Please stop this local store from using your brand to promote and/or sponsor bullfighting. I look forward to your reply and thank you in anticipation for your attention.
