internet time

internet time by S Migol.
One of two images for the 24 hour challenge on the flickr group Mission24, where the theme was "TIME."

This is a snapshot of the screen of the main timepiece I use - my Treo 680. It serves as my alarm clock in the morning, an exercise stopwatch, my calendar, keeps track of contacts with birthdays and anniversaries, and my telephone, of course. When thinking of the theme, I thought of how I depend on this device to keep my schedule and turned to the time-keeping features of the main application I use. I've wondered what "Internet Time" is and I'm still stumped since I don't use that feature (yet).

Snapped with a Pentax K10D camera with the smc P-FA 50mm F1.4 lens using a 31 mm Extension Tube. PP with UFRaw and GIMP.

in my world 'internet time' is what happens when I sit down for just a minute to check the mission 24 uploads and the next thing I know an hour has gone by! lol

Hi Stephen!

Internet time is cool idea from Swatch. It is essentially "metric" time where the day is divided into 1000 "beats". (1 beat = 86.4 seconds)

Eliminating time zones is the big idea here. Using beats, it is the same time all over the world. It is called internet time because it provides a common chronometer for people in different standard time zones to use in coordinating online events for either themselves or their programs.

I have a Swatch that displays internet time that I wear to proclaim my geek cred when so inspired.

Interesting. I hadn't heard of internet time before. It's about time someone did something about the way we express time.

I suspect that "Internet Time" is the longest time of the day. Cool shot. Mission accomplished!

Treo user spotted!

Nice to see another person still using a Treo. I think it's become the vinyl of smartphones today. Not many out there anymore, but those that still know aren't giving them up. ;)

Great take on the mission!
