Twinkling LED icicle Christmas lights by Philips

Twinkling LED icicle Christmas lights by Philips by slworking2.
Cool twinkling blue LED Christmas lights use only 3 watts of power vs 51 watts for conventional icicle lights.

I like the power saving, but the price is a bit high. I bought two orange ones for Halloween to try out. Then I read that they don't last very long outdoors. So just like regular strings you may have to replace them every couple years if they even last that long. I hope that isn't true, but you should check out this page.

Deacon Blues: These lights are awesome. They give off a very intense blue and use almost no electricity.

Art: Yeah. Not just TVs, but Christmas lights too.

jciv: That was some interesting - and depressing reading. Fortunately have several other strands of Costco "Kirkland Signature" LED light strings I bought two years ago that continue to work just fine today. :-)

aluvendale: Me too. These lights rock!

pyrofenix: Whoa! Long time no see, man. These set me back $17.99 a set. Kind of steep, but they're awesome lights and they use less than 3 watts per string vs. 50 watts for my old incandescent icicle lights. Electricity costs about $0.17 kWh here in San Diego - quite expensive, so energy-saving lights like this make a lot of sense here. Plus (I bought several LED strings from Costco a couple of years ago) they still work just fine the next season. And no more cracked glass bulbs.

Paul: I love the LEDs. I've now managed to replace ALL my light strings with LEDs. The only remaining incandescent lights still in use in my display are sculptures (reindeer, Santa, sleigh, snowmen, etc.)

I bought 3 boxes of white, and 3 boxes of blue last year for the old house. I took out every other LED and replaced it with the opposite color. Now they have twinkling!?!?! I have to go get a string of those and randomly place those in for the custom look!

Excellent! We managed to replace most of our other Christmas lights with more that we barely got do to their unavailablity around here. Hopefully by next year we'll have replaced all of them.

Jeff: Yeah, they have twinkling LED icicle lights now. These were very hard to find. I had to several local Target stores in order to get enough sets to do the front of my house.

Paul: I love the LEDs. It seems that everyone else does, too. The difference in energy usage is phenomenal.

I bet... and I'm sure that is something you can see since you put up a lot of lights.

Paul: Indeed. Electricity here in San Diego is very expensive - about $0.175 a kWh when all the various charges are factored in.
