A Great Egret that was hanging around the lily pond/lagoon at the hotel we stayed at in Santa Barbara. He (she?) was so fun to watch from our balcony.

I wanted to thank everyone for the good wishes. We are coming out of a very serious health scare with my mom, but she is home now and seems to be improving a little everyday. Something like that really puts things into perspective real quick.

Anyway, I look forward to catching up with all of you and your photos in the coming days. I'll still be on and off some since there is still a lot to do here at home. I hope everyone is doing well.

I wish I would remember what this contraption was called. We went wine-tasting last Saturday while up in the Santa Barbara area. This was taken at Consilience Winery in Los Olivos, California. They certainly had some yummy wines. I don't do too many indoor photos, but I ended up really liking this one.

I haven't been on Flickr much the past few days, and may not be for a few more days. I am in the middle of a family emergency, so not a lot of time for photo-taking, posting or commenting. I will be back...hopefully soon. I just want to say thank you to all of you for your comments, favorites and birthday wishes!

I went to Santa Barbara for the weekend and our hotel had, of all things, a lagoon with ducks, turtles, fish, and a great egret and a green heron that visited occasionally. Needless to say, I spent a lot of time out on the balcony or down by the lagoon. These ducks were a constant source of amusement. I liked this shot because they appeared to be in a huddle discussing something very important. Not sure what kind of ducks these are with the big fluffy crown on their heads, but they were awfully cute.

A portrait shot of a ring-billed gull at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. This guy was not shy at all. He stayed put on the bridge as I approached. I finally had to stop and take a few shots. I love the eye.
