Preventing cutlery explosions in the workplace

Dessert spoons
Knives
Forks
Stuff that don't fit elsewhere
Teaspoons
It's a mystery!
Preventing cutlery explosions in the workplace by Simon Lieschke.
I’m not sure of the purpose small (empty) section. I checked the cutlery drawer at my flat and it didn’t have one of them. Suggestions welcome.

Is this a genuine cutlery explosion, or was it faked for the purposes of media hype?

The top photo is genuinely how I encountered the drawer and then the bottom photo is genuinely what I did to defuse the situation.

Small compartment: bread tags, twist ties, or perhaps a receptacle for fines for people who create the havoc in your first pic! And I thought our work kitchen was bad!

"Cutlery explosion" sounded like a Parkerism. You could suggest he put the novelty teacups in the small compartment.

I came up with "cutlery explosion" independently, but to give him credit he did indeed provide the inspiration for the phrase :)
