	GraemeNicol says: slackeratslack, probably both. christianity isn't so underground, and its been here for a long time, the Taiping rebellion which swept across half of China back int he late 1800s was lead by someone proclaiming to be Jesus Christ, but nowadays there are both Catholic and Protestant churches here in Dalian. the Catholic Church in China isn't allowed to use the Pope as the head, but apart from that... western media, especially Christian influenced media likes to promote the idea that Christians are being persecuted all over China. more likely they're getting sacked from jobs for being evangelists, taking jobs as ESL teachers and using it as a platform to preach... ...but who really knows, eh... merry xmas to everyone else...
