Pretty shot. Maybe a bit high on the saturation.

ny@co: This image is the result of several relatively long exposures. One of the things I found out is that you can't do a long exposure in a major metropolitan area (like Seattle) and expect NOT to have airplane lights as part of the image. If you look closely, you can see the lights from three airplanes that went by while my shutter was open. I suppose I could try to take those out in Photoshop, but I kind of like the effect.

Nice overall image. The saturation works well for me, the contrast of colours is excellent.

I assume the water is frozen, given the reflections. I do like that, as it would have been too much had it been reflected more.

Overall very nice, and a technique I'd like to work on myself.

While they're interesting, and I've seen your reply to ny@co, I think the aeroplane trails are a distraction, which unfortunately was one of the first things I thought - "What are those?" (though ny@co's note may have compounded that!). If they weren't there I think I'd want to give it an extra 1 or 2 points.

Jingleby: Thanks for the comment. No, the lake is not frozen. Given the length of the exposure and the amount of chop on the water, the reflections are blurred.

Regarding the airplane lights, I may need to do some Photoshop work to fix this one up...

Well executed shot of a very pretty scene. The airplane lights are the most interesting part - they start to set it apart from the many similar shots to be seen out there. Wish they were brighter/more prominent, actually. As it is they are probably most noticeable due to the note on the photo. The basically blown-out centers of the reflections are too much, they throw off the balance of colors in the shot.

I love long water exposures for the way it makes the sea look glassy and smooth. I also like the orange glow that sort of warms this photograph. I think that the lights are a little too blown out in the reflections - it's a bit distracting. Nice composition otherwise.

Overall, it's a solid photo compositionally. The rich colors are a nice touch. However, it's also very static; nothing really draws me in. The blown out specular highlights are also a bit distracting.

I love this picture. I love the colors, the reflections, the composition with the dock/boardwalk leading out and the shoreline across... and without the notes and the other comments, I thought the lights in the sky were highlights on the clouds.
