cucumber from hell

At first we thought the cucumbers were not going to make it. Then we mulched them before we were away on vacation and came back to the plants from hell. The stayed moist and became a monster. They climb and grip to whatever they can find. I'm certain if I stood there long enough they would attempt to climb me. They're even suppressing the weeds and grass simply by blotting out the sun.
