Bald Eagle #2Very overcast and windy day. I had given up on getting any photos today. On our way back to the campground this guy was perched on a utility pole along the marsh just outside of the park entrance. I had my 400mm with me and took some shots. Then we rushed back to the RV and I grabbed my 500mm in hopes the Eagle would remain until I returned. As luck would have it he did, and I got this shot. Again it was very windy and extremely overcast. Hand held shot (I didn't have time to set up with the tripod). You just never know when a photo opportunity will arise. This is the second image I have posted from this encounter.

Seasons GreetingsWhile shooting butterflies in the lantana at Edisto Beach, I began to notice Wild Poinsettias. They were growing around the bases of last summers pampas grass. The "ribbons" in the shot are the dead leaves of the pampas grass. I liked the understated beauty of the Wild Poinsettia. So this is my Greeting card to my Flickr friends. I hope you all have a great Holiday Season.

Spoonbill TakeoffThere were four spoonbills at Huntington Beach, SC. They are very rare for this area. The day I took this shot was the last day we saw them. On the advice of a couple of contacts whose work I admire, I have replaced this image with a version that is much lighter. The only changes made were to exposure and fill light. I hope it is a improvement.

Edisto Christmas Boat ParadeI had no idea how to go about taking a shot like this. It was raining, near dark and the boats were moving. I had the ISO set to 1600 and still couldn't get any shutter speed or good exposure. This is one of those shots that technically isn't very good but I think it captured the moment. Kind of like a maritime Christmas card.
