Shirt layer + underwear layer illustration

Image used to illustrate the use of a lower underwear layer to created a 'tucked-in' look with a shirt layer, allowing a jacket layer to be worn over the top. Shirt layers on their own end at the waistline, as seen in the left-hand image, and therefore jacket layers are often used to create longer shirts. This, though, means a jacket cannot be worn with the shirt.
