fading beauty

I didn't get any photos of snow yesterday, but that didn't bother me much. I grew up in New Hampshire and as such had seen plenty of it. Frost, on the other hand, is always beautiful - it's more fleeting, and is often overlooked.

The frost is beginning to melt from this hibiscus bloom; in a few moments the frost will be gone and the cellular structure of the flower will collapse. The result will be a wilted, sallow mess. In the intervening time, however, it's a thing of rapidly shifting beauty.
