Wow, its the eyes and those thin antenie which make this model so amazing. I read about you in the newspaper (Metro) the other day. This has to be one of my favourite models in the origami world.

Damn that Mantis has personality! Looks like he's really annoyed with all the photography!

How big is the "Big Mantis", and how long did it take to fold this time?

And I really like your friend's photography.

      thanks guys!

@ Jared: it took pretty long to fold. 10-12 hours of which i think almost half was shaping and fidling around with the pose, going through pictures of the real thing... the 20 hours was not for the mantis but for the trilobite. this guy actually isn't that big but big compared to the other insects i've folded. it's arround 8 inch long.

The segmenting, I should say plating, is incredible. The entire fold is just fantastically done.

Hey Sipho, not sure if these photos are of any interest to you, but I found them on my computer from a mantis I found in my yard a couple years back:

Wow!! The eyes are so real!!How did you make the legs so thin?
      impeccable fold!!

    27. tskorigami (35 months ago | reply)

simply fanntastic..................butterflies, mantises, mosquitoes have ridiculously thin legs, which makes them hard to fold-but you've done that.......great mmodel!i originally wanted to fold this from cp, but it looks too difficult for me O_o
