If you visit Gion around dusk, you'll see loads of tourists lurking on
street corners with cameras, waiting for Geisha to appear. If any are
brave enough to walk down the main street, they're immediately set
upon by crowds of 'paparazzi', blocking their path and trying to take
photographs.
We took the more subtle approach of walking down a side alley and
finding this lady who was kind enough to let us take her picture.

Beautiful photo!
She is a Geiko! - Or fully fledged Geisha.
Her name is Kogiku, she is one of my favorites and I hear she is a very friendly Geiko!

Thanks :)
It was sad to see so many tourists rudely jumping in front of the Geisha as they walked down the streets. Kogiku was happy to let us take her picture when I asked her permission.

How neat! Kogiku is a pretty geiko, considering her unique face!

She was absolutely adorable as a Maiko too!
Yeah, I've heard of the tourist groups, me, I'd do as you, stick to the back streets and ask nicely if I could take their photo, or if they were busy, I'd give them a good deal of distance, and definitely no flashes!
