Chrysler up

Chrysler up

It has been months since I last uploaded anything to flickr. I have done so much over the last four months, visited Venice and Berlin, so lots of photos to work on and post. This photo is from my last trip to New York with an up shot of the Chrysler building reflected in the Grand Hyatt New York Hotel. Shot with my 24-70mm I did intend to have a 17mm with me but did not get it organised in time. I also need to get to grips using a tripod and ND big stopper.

New York Skyline

New York Skyline

It has been a few weeks since my last post and a month since I was in NYC. Every time I go up to see this view of the ESB and the New York skyline I am blown away. This is dark moody version, very different to my last visit.

Flickr heroes - 2012

Flickr heroes - 2012

It's that time of year when I go through my favourites and comment regulars realising there are so many great photographs out there. Many faves are from those of you who still regularly comment on my posts which is very much appreciated. My work is still evolving and look to many of you with respect admiring your work. As a final post of 2012 I have added a few of your photos to one of mine that I took of the Apple store, New York. Last year it was the london flag ship store, this year is Apple's World flagship store. Once again it's another pastiche of the Led Zeppelin cover Physical Graffiti, but I added some of my flickr heros not in the windows but in photo frames suspended in the iconic cube on 5th Avenue.

Once again what would be cool is if those of you that I have featured would add a note to your image and hence feed back to your stream. I have added names to photos but so of you guys do not allow. I am also sorry to those of you that I have not featured.

Do check out there stream if you don't already.

Wishing all a Happy & Prosperous New Year, especially those who comment regularly.

Skyflake II

Skyflake II

Having flown to New York and back last week I had to do a new "Skyflake" image again during the festive season. Last year's Skyflake image was a real hit all over the web. I do need to approach an airline to see if they would like a version doing. Again of interest the aircraft in this post were all taken from the same spot, Putney, London as they descended towards Heathrow airport. Altitude 3000 feet (estimate), Azimuth/Bearing 056° N56E,0996mils (true), Elevation Angle +90° , Horizontal Angle +20.7°. More different aircraft images to appear in the new year.

A very Merry Christmas to you all.

Galeriemädchen und -junge 0ne, zwei, drei, vier, fünf

Galeriemädchen und -junge 0ne, zwei, drei, vier, fünf

Today is the last post regarding my Berlin trip as I fly out to New York tomorrow for a rearranged visit. I should have flown out at end of October but Super Storm Sandy put a stop to it, with a flight cancellation. I am taking a number of students but not in the best of health as suffing from a stomach bug. Ah well I will have to play it by ear. This frame is from the The Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart in Berlin and points my way forward to visiting the MOMA in NYC and people watching and street photography I hope to catch. With regards to street photography I see that Joel Meyerowitz has an exhibition on 57th Street. I contacted the man himself via Facebook and he replied to me, so hope to see him on Saturday.

Information regarding the painting featured:
Qiu Shihua's White Field exhibition at the National Gallery's Hamburger Bahnhof. The exhibition covers his early paintings from the seventies up to his most recent work. At first glance, Qiu Shihua's works appear as monochrome, almost completely white canvases, especially in this photograph. However, on closer inspection, expansive landscapes emerge from their painterly surfaces, which, depending on the way you look at them, gradually blossom with detail, or recede again from view.
