Banksy

Regent's Park Road, Camden. Painted out some time on the 9th or 10th of February, 2008 and restored within the week, but looking rather battered now...

    (30 June 2008) Now with a Mexican knock-off....

One wonders how much of the brick was exposed? or was the brick portion repainted as brick-like?

Ah, Banksy pictures on Flickr should be called "Banking views on Banksy." really :). In a similar way, I had the most views when I posted a "Jeff Aerosol" ( Perhaps France's eponimous and more famous Banksy). Not much to do with photography, all the credit should go really to the artist. Same here. But again if it was not for your eyes and camera, I would have never seen this! So thanks. Another excellent Banksy of course!

Crikey, thanks everyone. grebo guru, I'll check tomorrow morning and report back.

EricGjerde, thanks for sorting out the attribution.

Orhan T, you're so right it hurts - until Royal de Luxe came along, my most viewed picture had been a Banksy for *months*.

Also, thanks to EricGjerde for the link to the original sketch....it gave a nice bit of background to Simon's wonderful shot.

Congratulations! This image is currently one of Flickr's most interesting photos for 15 may 2006. (It is on page one of the calendar view.) Would you please add it to the Interestingness pool? It would be a great addition!

Good capture. Banksy is brilliant and you got it really well. I've not seen this one before.

    34. Simon Crubellier (85 months ago | reply)

Thank you very much for the comments, views and faves everyone - Phineas H, I think this is only a couple of days old.

scurvesahead - Banksy, the artist responsible, is an increasingly popular English stencil graffiti artist. He has a website where you can see more of his work and find out more about him.

And grebo guru - the bricks are painted on!

The White Cube Gallery (in Shoreditch, Banksy's regular stomping ground), also has this very picture; except, the wall is brick painted white in the first place (i.e., the 'real' brick of the picture is the white bricks painted to appear um, brick colour).

    38. isabella_s (85 months ago | reply)

wow....absolutely magic..mmm so well banggoesanotherday i thing this is the point about the wall, its part from the fantasy from this pic...luv this pic
