in greek myth and legends , Icarus is supossed to have landed in the waters surrounding the island of Ikaria, which is how the island was named. i know this because this because i am greek and my family is form this island.
Im not sure where the info about this being realted to the mythological story of icarus came from but its very incorrect

I think you must be referring to that article I wrote, which featured this picture among others, "20 Awesome Images Found in Google Maps.
In that article, I wrote that this lake was formed by the impact of Icarus hitting the earth when he fell from the sky.
I know fully well that Icarus didn't fly anywhere close to Brazil, of course. The description was intended to be humorous, not factual or accurate. (And, how can one be all that accurate with a myth, anyway?)
