Rolleiflex 3.5F

    Newer Older

Fresh from the box she arrived in, my new play-thing! A Rolleiflex 3.5F with the much coveted Carl Zeiss Planar lens.

Since selling my Rolleiflex 6002 earlier in the year I have missed composing shots using a ground glass and waist level finder. As much as I love the stunning quality that my Mamiya 6 produces, as well as it's superb portability and modern design, I still cannot get used to using it's viewfinder to compose my shots. I wonder if a TLR is the answer.

I sold my 6002 because it was a little heavy and a tad bulky, plus the mirror-slap meant shooting at low speed was difficult. However, a TLR is small, light and with no mirror-slap it's stable and very quiet.

And as cameras go, they don't get much sexier!

I bought it on ebay, I managed to get it cheap because the seller was yet to build up any feedback and that appeared to put people off bidding for it. Much to my delight!

I absolutely agree with the feelings between rangefinders and screen based cameras.. I just don´t enjoy so much using rangefinders.

I'm going to be sending mine in for a complete going over in the next few weeks. Mine has the Xenotar, but I have never seen any difference between the two lenses.

Yes I have read a lot of discussion regarding the comparison of the two lenses and from what I can tell they are both excellent. I would happily have bought mine if it had the Xenotar.
